Subwoofer box for a Dodge Challenger or Charger
The Challenger has the biggest trunk of the American muscle coupes, and the Charger sedan shares it. Space is generous, so the box can be ported and the subs big.
Where the sub goes
- Challenger. In the trunk against the rear seat backs, firing back or up. Room for a 15″ ported box or two 12″.
- Charger. The same platform and a similar trunk: the same boxes fit.
- Factory sub. The premium audio option includes a trunk sub; an aftermarket box usually replaces it.
Pick a sub for this spaceThe calculator opens with the vehicle and the space from this guide and lists the subs that fit there, each with its box. Then adjust the size to your own vehicle.
Example: a trunk box
A ready-made sealed box sold for the 2008–2023 Challenger and the Charger measures 32″ wide, 25″ deep and 15″ high, and Crutchfield gives the same 32 × 15″ for the Challenger trunk. Take a box 32″ wide, 16″ deep and 15″ high to keep some trunk space. With ¾″ walls the inside is 30.5 × 14.5 × 13.5″ — about 3.5 ft³ gross: two 12″ sealed (0.75–1.5 ft³ each) or one 12″ ported. A 15″ ported (2.5–4 ft³ net plus the port) needs a deeper box — up to about 25″ fits. Measure your trunk and its opening.
Bass through the trunk
A big sealed trunk loses some bass on its way into the cabin; folding the rear seat or a pass-through helps. The buttons in “Pick a sub for this space” above open the calculator with this already set: the vehicle, where the box goes and the size of the space.
Design it for your car
Enter the box size, pick your sub and compare sealed and ported; the calculator checks the port fits, draws the box and gives you the cut list and DXF. See also Mustang boxes.
